De craniosacraaltherapeut zorgt ervoor dat datgene wat het lichaam regelt – hersenen en ruggenmerg – in al zijn aspecten meer ruimte krijgt om zijn taak uit te voeren. De craniosacraaltherapeut manipuleert niet, maar voelt subtiele disfuncties in de liqour en gebruikt de ritmische kracht daarvan om botjes en organen op hun plaats te laten komen, gebruikmakend van de zelfhelende krachten in het lichaam. Er zijn twee beroepsverenigingen, met een register, onafhankelijk tucht- en klachtrecht, en kwaliteitsbewaking.
