In 2022, the JTSE registered the international identifier Digital Object Identifier (DOI): 10.58334\u002Fvrtc.jtst and assigned DOI codes to all articles of the journal. The members of the Editorial Board of the JTSE are prestigious scientists and leading scientists from Vietnam and many countries in the world. The JTSE has been recognized by the Vietnam State Council for Professorship to score scientific articles in Chemistry, Medicine and Biology with scores ranging from 0-0.75 points.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp Những bài báo không đúng quy cách hoặc có nội dung không phù hợp hoặc vi phạm bản quyền sẽ bị từ chối (Ban Thư ký thông báo phản hồi đến tác giả trong vòng 1 tuần). Những bài báo đủ điều kiện, được Ban Thư ký tòa soạn chuyển đến Ban Biên tập có cùng chuyên môn với nội dung bài báo để đề xuất người phản biện. Các phản biện gởi nhận xét cho Ban Thư ký. Nếu ý kiến đồng ý đăng và cần chỉnh sửa, Ban Thư ký sẽ thông tin đến tác giả chỉnh sửa theo yêu cầu của người phản biện. Thời gian chỉnh sửa và gửi lại kéo dài không quá 2 tuần, từ khi tác giả bài báo nhận được thông tin (Quá trình này có thể lặp lại tối đa 2 lần\u002F1 bài báo). Ban Thư ký tổng hợp các bản thảo đã được tác giả hoàn thiện sau thẩm định trình Ban Biên tập xem xét, Tổng Biên tập phê duyệt, quyết định bài đăng theo các tiêu chí: sự phù hợp nội dung với tôn chỉ và mục đích, thể loại bài viết (ưu tiên các bài có bài có nghiên cứu chuyên sâu, hàm lượng khoa học cao), đóng góp mới bài báo, bài báo được ưu tiên đăng trong số gần nhất của Tạp chí theo thứ tự: tính thời sự, chất lượng bài báo và thời gian gửi bài.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>\u003Cbr>\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>\u003Cspan style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">2. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Data sets from 396 patients with severe TBI (Glasgow Coma Scale score \u003C 9) included by 5 Austrian hospitals were available. The analysis focused on incidence and\u002For degree of severity of typical clinical signs, frequency of use of different management options, and association with outcomes for both. ICU mortality, 90-day mortality, final outcome (favorable = good recovery or moderate disability; unfavorable = severe disability, vegetative state, or death) after 6 or 12 months, and ratio of observed (90-day) to predicted mortality (O\u002FE ratio) are reported for the selected parameters. Chi2-test, t-test, Fisher's exact test, and logistic regression were used to identify significant (p \u003C 0.05) differences for association with survival and favorable outcome (both coded as 1). RESULTS: The majority of patients were male (72%), mean age was 49 ± 21 years, mean injury severity score (ISS) was 27 ± 17, mean first GCS score was 5.6 ± 2.9, and expected hospital survival was 63 ± 30%. ICU mortality was 32%, 90-day mortality was 37%, and final outcome was favorable in 35%, unfavorable in 53%, unknown in 12%. We found that age > 60 years, ISS > 50 points, GCS score \u003C 4, bilateral changes in pupil size and reactivity, respiratory rate \u003C 10\u002Fmin, systolic blood pressure (SBP) \u003C 90 mm Hg, and heart rate \u003C 60\u002Fmin were associated with significantly higher ICU and 90-day mortality rates, and lower rates of favorable outcome. With regard to prognostic value the GCS motor response score is identical to the full GCS score. Administration of > 1000 ml of fluid and helicopter transport were associated with better outcomes than expected, while endotracheal intubation in the field had neither a positive nor a negative effect on outcomes. wieder dialysepflichtig werden, stellen eine besondere Gruppe an der Peritonealdialyse (PD) dar. Die Frage, ob diese Patienten im Vergleich zu nicht transplantierten Patienten ein reduziertes Überleben haben, wird unterschiedlich beantwortet. Für Mortalitätsunterschiede zwischen den Gruppen scheinen aber eher das Alter, die Dialysedauer und die damit verbundene höhere Komorbidität verantwortlich zu sein. Eine Studie, die den klinischen Verlauf bei Patienten mit Transplantatversagen an der Hämodialyse (HD) und an der PD verglichen hat, fand keinen signifikanten Überlebensunterschied zwischen den beiden Gruppen. Mehrere Studien zeigen einen schnelleren Rückgang der Nierenrestfunktion bei PD-Patienten mit chronischer Transplantatinsuffizienz im Vergleich zu nicht transplantierten Patienten. Ob die PD aber im Vergleich zur HD bei chronischer Transplantatinsuffizienz den Verlauf der renalen Clearance günstig beeinflusst, ist bisher noch nicht untersucht worden. Die bei transplantierten im Vergleich zu nicht transplantierten PD-Patienten nachweisbaren höheren peritonealen Transportraten könnten das technische Überleben beeinflussen. Die Frage nach Art und Ausmaß der Immunsuppression bei chronischer Transplantatinsuffizienz und die möglichen Auswirkungen auf Abstoßung, längeren Erhalt der Nierenrestfunktion und Infektionsrate wird kontrovers diskutiert. Immunsupprimierte transplantierte Patienten haben ein erhöhtes Risiko für gramnegative Peritonitiden, ein kürzeres Zeitintervall vom Beginn der Dialyse bis zum Auftreten der ersten Peritonitis, aber auch ein erhöhtes Risiko für Staphylococcus-aureus-Katheterinfektionen im Vergleich zu nicht transplantierten und zu diabetischen PD-Patienten. Zusammenfassend kann die PD aber unter bestimmten Voraussetzungen (z.B. engmaschiges Infekt-Monitoring) auch bei Patienten mit chronischem Transplantatversagen als Nierenersatztherapie durchgeführt frequently bring their children to the Emergency Department (ED) because of the fever without apparent source (FWAS). To avoid possible complications, it is important to recognize serious bacterial infection (SBI) as early as possible. Various tests, including different clinical scores and scales, are used in the laboratory evaluation of patients. However, it is still impossible to predict the presence of SBI with complete certainty. Galetto-Lacour et al. developed and validated a risk index score, named Lab-score. Lab-score is based on the three predictive variables independently associated with SBI: procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP), and urinary dipstick. The objective of this study was to assess the performance of the Lab-score in predicting SBI in well-appearing infants ≤ 180 days of age with FWAS, who presented to ED and were hospitalized with suspicion of having SBI. Based on this study findings, white blood cells count (WBC), CRP, PCT, and lab-score ≥ 3 were confirmed as useful biomarkers for differentiation between SBI and non-SBI. Also, receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis confirmed that all of them were useful for differentiation between SBI and non-SBI patients with the highest area under curve (AUC) calculated for the Lab-score. The results of this research confirmed its value, with calculated sensitivity of 67.7 % and specificity of 98.6 % in prediction of SBI in infants aged ≤ 180 days. Its value was even better in infants aged ≤ 90 days with sensitivity of 75 % and specificity of 97.7 %.
