Universities do not only focus on training a highly qualified workforce but also appreciate the importance of ethical education, which teaches students to live virtuously. In the history of Vietnam, Buddhism is a religion that always has a deep connection with Vietnamese culture and consciousness. Appreciating the compassion which helps people nurture their kindness and maintain their good conscience in life, Buddhism provides us with useful devices for ethical education in schools. The Buddhist approach in education, therefore, proves advantageous and suitable for students’ psychology and parents’ aspirations. Our research focuses on the case of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM (HCMUSSH). Many different subjects that relate to Buddhism in general and Buddhist ethics specifically are being taught at HCMUSSH. Besides, a number of Buddhist scholars from the Centre for Buddhist Studies and Buddhist Academy of Ho Chi Minh City have been invited to give lectures on Buddhism and participate in conversations with lecturers and students of HCMUSSH about the application of Buddhist ethics to social life. This paper is aimed to express our opinions on the importance of the Buddhist approach in the higher education system, which may answer the research question of whether Buddhism plays an essential role in constructing the foundation for educational ethics.

Buddhist approach in constructing the basis of educational ethics
10.32508/stdjssh.v3i2.513","PUBLICATION","2023-09-14T08:29:00.595+00:00","155156","http://stdjssh.scienceandtechnology.com.vn/index.php/stdjssh/article/view/513","http://stdjssh.scienceandtechnology.com.vn/index.php/stdjssh/article/download/513/890",[90,117
"7b24af35-ee88-46fb-8e4a-ac04c894b7b3",[],[94
"6325a821-0444-422d-afcb-2c229e04a635
"f5ab1027-b2df-4527-8991-1c7b37f7fca4","2023-07-31T05:31:57.628+00:00","2026-06-19T02:30:02.255+00:00",[],"%C4%90%E1%BA%A1i-h%E1%BB%8Dc-Khoa-h%E1%BB%8Dc-X%C3%A3-h%E1%BB%99i-v%C3%A0-Nh%C3%A2n-v%C4%83n-%C4%90%E1%BA%A1i-h%E1%BB%8Dc-Qu%E1%BB%91c-gia-Th%C3%A0nh-ph%E1%BB%91-H%E1%BB%93-Ch%C3%AD-Minh
"University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City","Trường Đại học Khoa học Xã hội và Nhân văn - Đại học Quốc gia Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh","AFFILIATION","2023-08-01T13:57:33.613+00:00",16
University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM
"WyLx1BsAAAAJ
Ngo Thi Phuong Lan
"a8abb3aa-9b54-4cc1-8756-0be90641e5ce",[],[121
"8983baf8-d3b7-4df6-9a43-ed4169933b55
[
"Tran Anh Tien","ARTICLE
[
[25,26],[],[],[
i10Index":34,"i10IndexLast5Year":34
"hindexLast5Year":54
2021":36,"2022":37,"2023":38,"2024":37},{"2017":41,"2019":42,"2020":43,"2021":44,"2022":45,"2023":46,"2024":47},{"2017":50,"2019":51,"2020":52,"2021":52,"2022":53,"2023":54},{"2017":57,"2019":58,"2020":59,"2021":60,"2022":61,"2023":62
"3
72-78
2",2
2019,{},"2019-10-19","2025-08-20T23:55:26.489+00:00",false
"17785b94-fe00-4924-92be-daaaf74a2404","2023-09-14T08:35:05.767+00:00","2025-10-08T23:48:40.497+00:00",[],"Expressions-of-indirect-refusal-in-Vietnamese-compared-with-Russian-
"14727552147797669649
In Pragmatics, verbal behavior is a behavior that is most interested by many linguists. Refusal is a common act in communication, especially in intercultural communication. In the case that the proposed invitations, suggestions or requests, etc. are not suitable to receive, refusal in a proper manner is needed. In addition, this self-study strategy also gives students a lot of benefits in the process of vocabulary learning (M=4.17). Specifically, students assessed this strategy to help them easily review learned vocabulary with the highest average value of M=4.24, and acquire vocabulary faster than traditional learning strategies with the lowest average value of M=4.09. Simultaneously, the research results also show that students also face some certain challenges (M=3.75) when applying this strategy in Russian vocabulary self-study process due to the main reasons coming from the students' low sense of learning (M=3.88), as well as the lack of learning time, the habit of vocabulary learning by traditional strategies, the lack of specific instructions or the Especially after the Practices Related to the Viet Beliefs in the Mother Goddesses in Three Realms recognized by the UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity the number of monographs and articles that mention different aspects of this worship is more diverse. In the mid-20s of the twentieth century, Beliefs in the Mother Goddesses appeared on Lang Biang plateau along with the process of migration, settling and forming Vietnamese community in this land. After nearly a century of introduction, shaping and development in the new land of the South Central Highlands, besides keeping the cognitive values, human values and traditional art and culture of Beliefs in the Mother Goddesses. In addition to preserving the cognitive values, human values and traditional art and culture of Beliefs in the Mother Goddesses in the Northern Delta, this worship of ethnic Viet group in Lam Dong had a process of interference, shaping and development with many differences. These characteristics are reflected in the diversity in the form of worship and religious activities. Using some main methods such as synthesis methods, analytical methods, qualitative research methods with the approach of ethnic minority fieldwork through two forms of observation and participation as well as conducting in-depth interviews ... the research will cover access to features in the Mother worshiping tradition in Lam Dong on the basis of comparison with the worship of the same name throughout the country. Conceptual metaphor is the system of ideas mapped according to the perception of human being about life and expressed by linguistic metaphor. Conceptual metaphor with source domain WAR is one of the most common metaphors used in American English business news discourse. In conceptual metaphor model BUSINESS IS WAR, it can be found many words related to war such as ‘attack’, ‘withdraw’, ‘invade’, ‘besiege’, ‘fight’, ‘win’, ‘defense’, etc... which are used in business news discourse. Through the mapping of this metaphor model, companies can be seen as the military in a war; the businessmen correspond to the soldiers in a fight, and the battles are conceived as competitions on price and market share. This result is similar to the conclusion about conceptual metaphor of ARGUMENT IS WAR by Lakoff & Johnson, which mentions that the use of war metaphors to understand the source domain of ARGUMENT is not accidental. Un on trolled migration from rural areas to urban areas since this date, not only led rural areas to be emptied to a great extent, but also caused emergence of various structural problems in urban areas. One of the forms of living in Turkey that were affected the most by the change and transformation experienced in rural areas is transhumance. Seminomadic animal husbandry carried out in almost all regions of Turkey and the lifestyle related to this face radical changes. The Gerger district, located in southeast Turkey, is one of the areas that experienced this process of change most noticeably. Transhumance, which has been carried out for centuries here continuously, faces significant spatial, economic and socio-cultural transformations. In spatial transformation, regression of animal husbandry activities based on natural environment conditions and occasional emergence of agricultural production become prevalent, while significant differentiations take place in types of residences. This knowledge is generated and transmitted through communities, over time, in an effort to cope with their own agro-ecological and socio-economic environments (Fernandez, 1994). Vietnamese residents in the Mekong Delta during the development of cultivation activities have accumulated a lot of folk experiences, creating a large amount of indigenous knowledge in daily life and farming production. This knowledge has supported the Vietnamese people to adapt themselves to survive for several hundred years. However, throughout the time, under the strong impact of scientific knowledge, indigenous knowledge nowadays is no longer applied as much as before. In the context of increasing climate change, understanding and reevaluating the correct value of this knowledge, besides preserving, also contribute to public policy implications in environmental change adaptation strategies in the near future. Even the majority of the rural couples in rural areas in the Mekong Delta said that Xem tuoi is no longer an important factor affecting their marital happiness because there is no difference in the economic and material conditions along with the age groups (appropriate, normal, unsuitable age). The study surveyed 48 couples who are teachers in Hung Khanh Trung B commune, Cho Lach district, Ben Tre province, then conducted a statistical analysis to show this situation. If the definition of marital happiness includes financial security, well-being, the degree of job and life satisfaction of the couple, from the traditional viewpoint, couples with “age compatibility” will have a higher happiness rate than other couples. It is a mechanism of sharing power in decision-making and sharing the benefits of natural resources between stakeholders (usually governments and local communities). In Vietnam, several governmental pilot projects on comanagement of PAs were launched over the past decade, with the purpose of eventually scaling up as a national policy. Nationwide, co-management initiatives have been implemented for protected areas (PAs). Therefore, a full assessment of the PAs co-management paradigm is needed. This paper aims to increase the understaing of the ''state-of-the-art" of the management that exist within PAs and to direct attention to the issues associated with property rights in conservation. It assesses the comanagement of PAs in terms of concepts, practices and implications that relate to indigenous peoples and community land and resource rights. The paper begins with a theoretical discussion about comanagement of PAs and property rights. Next, it analyzes a wide range of biodiversity-rich countries that have different time schedules for applying comanagement in PAs. The analysis also focusses on various types of PAs such as forests, game reserves, pastureland reserves, marine PAs, etc. It then encompasses experienced cases of community based forest management in Vietnam that may be applicable to co-managed PAs. This paper reveals that co-management could be an effective tool for PAs management as long as the property rights of local communities and their members are defined clearly and satisfactorily. Among them, land ownership/land-use rights have the most influence on the nature of the co-management agreements. The co-management of PAs officially acknowledges the rights of locals who live in and around forests, to enter, use and manage PAs. These management rights of communities are collective rights rather than individual rights, while ultimately management rights belong to governments. Governments retain the rights to control forest resources; to make decisions about forest products with high value; and to approve policies related to the PA management plan, exploitation license, development of forest management guidelines. In conclusion, governments usually do not empower local communities regarding their exclusion and alienation rights.
Co-management of protected areas: a property rights point of view
10.32508/stdjssh.v2i1.476","2023-09-14T09:56:05.629+00:00","http://stdjssh.scienceandtechnology.com.vn/index.php/stdjssh/article/view/476","http://stdjssh.scienceandtechnology.com.vn/index.php/stdjssh/article/download/476/863",[722
"4bb9480d-eeda-44e0-b0e1-d03f9ad3c7e5",[],[726
"a9d9aa4f-43ea-4a32-b2de-edd601d8ee1a","2023-09-14T09:56:12.154+00:00","2023-12-27T11:39:37.648+00:00",[],"University-of-Natural-Resources-and-Environment-HCMS
University of Natural Resources and Environment HCMS
Van Ngoc Truc Phuong
[
[25,26],[],[],[
i10Index":34,"i10IndexLast5Year":34
"hindexLast5Year":54
2021":36,"2022":37,"2023":38,"2024":37},{"2017":41,"2019":42,"2020":43,"2021":44,"2022":45,"2023":46,"2024":47},{"2017":50,"2019":51,"2020":52,"2021":52,"2022":53,"2023":54},{"2017":57,"2019":58,"2020":59,"2021":60,"2022":61,"2023":62
"38-49
2019-03-13","ERROR_IN_GET_PLATFORM_ID
"9ac219be-ab39-4de8-8dca-292027ec1139","2023-09-14T10:00:19.740+00:00","2026-02-05T23:19:28.447+00:00",[],"Maritime-anthropological-studies-in-island-and-coastal-areas-in-Southern-Central-and-Southern-Vietnam-from-narrative-oral-History-and-life-history-approach
"6295163500798887187
narrative research,oral history,life history,,maritime anthropology,island and coastal areas,southern Central and Southern Vietnam
This paper explores conversations of fishermen and residents in island and coastal areas in southern Central and Southern Vietnam within the framework of maritime anthropology. The conversations are presented in the forms of narratives, storytellings and memories from three different approaches: narrative, oral history and life history. Deloyed in anthropology, history, literature, folklore and other disciplines, these approaches share one common character – interviewing as the means of data collection. Only through interviewing, a researcher is able to engage his/her subjects into the process of commemorating their lived experience, both individually and collectively. From fragmented memories and stories about the past to vivid representation of contemporary social reality of the people in island and coastal areas, the researcher then needs to “combine” them spatially and temporally to reconstruct a comprehensive narrative. If we fail to do that, these precious narratives would eventually vanish. To embed these narratives into the scientific stream of social life, we need to double-check, investigate, study and analyze them from multi-disciplinary perspectives.
