To study, ranging between 18-55 years of age, according to the Manchester Scaledeformation degree 2 and on, 30 volunteers who have been diagnosed with hallux valgus (experimental group) and 30 healthy subjects (control group) were included. Individuals were evaluated in terms of demographic charecteristics, gait and quality of life. Evaluation of gait used method of foot print, evaluation of quality of life used SF-36. When time-distance characteristics of gait were compared, the difference in favor of control group was observed about step width, foot angle, cadance, gait speed (p\u003C0,05). When viewed in terms of individual for quality of life, in the experimental group was found to be adversely affected in terms of parameters of physical functionning, physical role, bodily pain, vitality, social functionning, emotional role, physical parts summary, emotional parts summary of the SF-36 quality of life questionnaire (p\u003C0,05). Respiration. 2010;79(6):508–10.",{"EN":142},"To Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) is an autoinflammatory disorder with genetic origin. Pleuritis is most common in FMF. Long-term sequelae of respiratory system haven’t been described in FMF. We documented pulmonary manifestations in patient with FMF. A 61-year- old woman presented with dyspnea, unilateral chest pain, generalized myalgia and FMF. Physical examination was unremarkable. Radiological data showed left-sided pleuritis, minimal pleural effusion. Pleural effusion resolved spontaneously in one week later but patient had still dyspnea. Pulmonary function tests (PFT) was normal. Further examination detected respiratory muscle weakness and decreased functional capacity. Patient then underwent inspiratory muscle training (IMT) for six weeks. After training, inspiratory muscle strength and functional capacity increased. Perception of dyspnea and fatique decreased. In long-term follow-up, frequency of attacks decreased. To our knowledge, there is no study on respiratory muscle weakness and IMT in FMF. Although this report doesn’t provide direct evidence, it may provide recommendation for investigation of respiratory muscle weakness and treatment with IMT in FMF with respiratory impairments. Pratiğe dayalı ve çok disiplinlilik özelliği gösteren, diğer sağlık çalışanlarına oranla farklı yetkinlikler gerektiren fizyoterapi öğrencilerinin öğrenme stillerinin belirlenmesi önemlidir. Araştırmanın amacı, fizyoterapi eğitimi alan öğrencilerin bireysel öğrenme stillerinin analizini yapmak ve eğitimin etkili ve verimli yapılabilmesi için alınması gereken önlemler konusunda öneriler geliştirmektir. Lisans düzeyinde fizyoterapi eğitimi alan 63 öğrencinin bireysel öğrenme stilleri, Barbara A. Soloman ve Richard M. Felder tarafından geliştirilen Öğrenme Stilleri Anketi’nin 44 değişkenli Türkçe versiyonu kullanılarak belirlendi. Ankette, bilgiyi işleme dışa dönük-içe dönük, bilgiyi algılama duyusal-sezgisel, bilgi girişi görsel-sözel ve bilgiyi anlamada sırasal- bütüncül olarak belirlenen 4 alt parametrenin her biri ile ilgili 11 değişken bulunmaktadır. Dışa dönük\u002Fiçe dönük kategorisinde öğrencilerin %33.3’ü dışa dönük dengeli iken %31.7’si içe dönük dengeli, duyusal\u002Fsezgisel kategorisinde ise öğrencilerin %44.4’i duyusal ılımlı, %39.7’sinin eğilimi görsel ılımlı, sırasal\u002Fbütüncül kategorisinde %41.3’ünün seçimi sırasal ılımlı şeklinde olmuştur. Ilımlı ve dengeli tercih sonuçları, ‘dışa dönük, duyusal, görsel ve sırasal’ boyutlara ağırlık verilen öğretim ortamlarında fizyoterapi öğrencilerinin daha kolay anlayabileceğini göstermektedir. A total of 100 female students (52 subjects with and 48 subjects without dysmenorrhea, respectively) over 18 years old were enrolled in this study. The attitude of women was assessed during menstruation by Menstruation Attitude Questionnaire. Level of perceived stress was evaluated with Percieved Stress Scale during menstruation and 15 days after menstruation. Additional menstrual symptoms such as abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, dizziness, weakness, headache, back pain, leg symptoms were questioned during menstruation. Only “menstruation as a natural event” subscale scores of Menstruation Attitude Questionnaire were significantly lower in women with dysmenorrhea than controls. Perceived Stress Scale scores during menstruation were significantly lower in the group with dysmenorrhea than the control group; however, Perceived Stress Scale scores 15 days after menstruation were not significantly different between two groups. The severity of menstrual symptoms such as abdominal cramps, nausea, loss of appetite, dizziness, and weakness were significantly higher in the group with dysmenorrhea. This study shows that women with dysmenorrhea have some important changes in attitude towards menstruation. Especially they have problems to accept menstruation as a natural event. At the same time, physiological or psychological symptoms such as loss of appetite, muscle cramps, weakness were seen more in women with dysmenorrhea. Người ta tin rằng sự xoay và lệch bên là các mô hình biến dạng thứ cấp trong sự phát triển của scoliosis vô căn, và có thể cải thiện tình trạng scoliosis bằng các lực trong mặt phẳng sagittal. Có ý kiến cho rằng bài tập Physio-logic® giúp ổn định tư thế cột sống và chỉnh sửa scoliosis theo 3 chiều. Mục tiêu của nghiên cứu này là đánh giá tác động của bài tập mobilization đối xứng được định nghĩa trong các bài tập Physio-logic® lên độ linh hoạt của cột sống và góc xoay thân. Ba mươi bốn bệnh nhân (30 nữ, 4 nam) mắc scoliosis vô căn ở thanh thiếu niên (AIS) đã được đưa vào nghiên cứu này. Phân loại King đã được sử dụng để phân loại các loại scoliosis. Bài tập \"mobilization đối xứng\" được thực hiện 20 lần lặp, 15 phiên trong tư thế nằm ngửa dưới sự giám sát của nhà vật lý trị liệu. Độ linh hoạt của cột sống được đánh giá bằng bài kiểm tra cúi người về phía trước và sang hai bên, và góc xoay thân được đo bằng dụng cụ đo scolio. Các đánh giá đã được thực hiện trước và sau mỗi phiên. Tuổi trung bình của bệnh nhân là 13.5 năm (phạm vi; 10-17). Góc Cobb trung bình là 31.64° (phạm vi; 12°- 60°) và góc xoay thân là 9.86° (phạm vi; 3°-16°). Chúng tôi đề xuất rằng các bài tập mobilization đối xứng nên được đưa vào chương trình phục hồi chức năng cho AIS.","Thoracic and lumber flatback has been assumed to be the triggerring factor for idiopathic scoliosis. It is belived that rotation and lateral deviation are secondary patterns of deformity in the development of idiopathic scoliosis, and it should be possible to improve scoliosis by forces in sagittal plane. It is suggested that Physio-logic® exercises stabilize the spine posture and correct scoliosis in 3-D. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of symmetric mobilization exercise which was defined in Physio-logic®exercises on spine flexibility and angle of trunk rotation. Thirty four patients (30 female, 4 male) with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) were included in this study. King classification was used to classify of scoliosis types. “Symmetric mobilization” exercise was done 20 repetitions, 15 sessions in supin position under physiotherapist supervision. Spine flexibility was evaluated with forward and lateral bending test and angle of trunk rotation was measured with scoliometer. Evaluations were performed before and after every session. The mean age of patients was 13.5years (range; 10-17). The mean Cobb angle was 31.64° (range; 12°- 60°) and angle of trunk rotation was 9.86° (range; 3°-16°). Statistically significant improvements were observed for all assessed measurements after the treatment (p\u003C0.05). Our results showed that spine flexibility can be improved and angle of trunk rotation can be decreased by sagittal forces. Increasing of spine flexibility and decreasing angle of trunk rotation may prevent progression of scoliosis. The faculty department\u002Fschools that are giving the education in the physiotherapy and rehabilitation field of science were determined from the websites of ‘The Council of Higher Education’ and ‘Turkish Republic Student Selection and Placement Center’. The establishment dates, quotas, graduations, curriculums and instructors of these department\u002F schools were analyzed. Fifty-six university [32 government (%57.14), 24 foundation (%42.85)] in physiotherapy and rehabilitation field of science were determined according to the 2012 records. Thirty-seven (%66.07) universities and 2556 students have started the education and student quota was aproximately 64.86±19.62 people. Twenty-five (%67.5) of 37 faculty department\u002F school’s curriculum were available on website. Means of total course credits was 184.74±26.38, number of courses was 81.96±20.86 and hours was 245.08±43.64. Means of total number of professional courses, credits and hours were, respectively, 35.48±6.66, 88.18±15.68 and 161.60±30.01. A total of 191 lecturers were found to exist in faculty department\u002F schools and 148 (%77.48) of them were physiotherapists. It was determined that the number of physiotherapist lecturers per faculty department\u002Fschools was 4.54±6.18. Insufficient number of physiotherapist lecturers caused the problem to open quotas and give education after graduation in some faculty department\u002Fschools. When the numbers and hours of the professional courses are considered, the necessity of physiotherapist lecturers in the opening of physiotherapy and rehabilitation faculty department\u002Fschools is determined. The sociodemographic and clinical characteristics and properties of the prostheses of the participants were recorded. All cases attended to a 10 session exercise program. They continued the exercises after the program finished. The satisfaction level of the patients concerning comfort, appearance weight of the prosthesis and walking with prosthesis were assessed by Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before and 2 months after the treatment. When compared pre and post-treatment results, comfort of the prosthesis (p=0.048), satisfaction with the appearence of prosthesis (p=0.01), and walking ability (p=0.033) were statistically different. In the present study, it is demonstrated that the exercise program affected prosthetic satisfaction levels positively in unilateral above knee amputees.",{"EN":827},"The effects of exercise program on In this study, children who diagnosed DMD scored as Level 1 or 2 according to the Brooke Upper Extremity Functional Classification (BUEFC) were divided into study and control groups with coin toss method randomly. Demographic datas were recorded. Timed performance tests (standing from supine, T-Shirt wearing\u002Fremoving), electronic respiratory muscle strength device and Pediatric Quality of Life-3.0 (PedsQL-3.0) Neuromuscular Module child\u002Fparent questionnaire were used for evaluation of upper extremity performances, peak expiratory flow (PEF) and health-related quality of life, respectively. Study group had trained in arm ergometer, 8 weeks, 3 days per week, mean 40 minutes. Control group was applied normal range of motion upper extremity exercises as home programme. Assessments were repeated after 8 weeks. 24 DMD children, 12 control and 12 study subjects, respectively with mean age 9.33±1.37 and 9.50±1.38 were evaluated. Statistically significant differences were found in favor of study group in standing from supine position and T-shirt wearing time after exercise program (p\u003C0.05). Significant increase was found in PEF liter value in study group (p\u003C0.01). There were positive, moderate correlation between PedsQL-child scores and PEF (r=0.590; p\u003C0.05); negative, strong correlation between PEF and T-Shirt wearing time (r=-0.629; p\u003C0.05). It was found that upper extremity dynamic exercise with arm ergometer increased respiratory function and showed positive effect on quality of life of children with DMD.",{"EN":983},"Duchenne musküler
