In this study, children who diagnosed DMD scored as Level 1 or 2 according to the Brooke Upper Extremity Functional Classification (BUEFC) were divided into study and control groups with coin toss method randomly. Demographic datas were recorded. Timed performance tests (standing from supine, T-Shirt wearing\u002Fremoving), electronic respiratory muscle strength device and Pediatric Quality of Life-3.0 (PedsQL-3.0) Neuromuscular Module child\u002Fparent questionnaire were used for evaluation of upper extremity performances, peak expiratory flow (PEF) and health-related quality of life, respectively. Study group had trained in arm ergometer, 8 weeks, 3 days per week, mean 40 minutes. Control group was applied normal range of motion upper extremity exercises as home programme. Assessments were repeated after 8 weeks. 24 DMD children, 12 control and 12 study subjects, respectively with mean age 9.33±1.37 and 9.50±1.38 were evaluated. Statistically significant differences were found in favor of study group in standing from supine position and T-shirt wearing time after exercise program (p\u003C0.05). Significant increase was found in PEF liter value in study group (p\u003C0.01). There were positive, moderate correlation between PedsQL-child scores and PEF (r=0.590; p\u003C0.05); negative, strong correlation between PEF and T-Shirt wearing time (r=-0.629; p\u003C0.05). özellik gösteren öğrenme stilini belirleme ve değerlendirmede, bilgiyi edinme ve işleme stilini anlamak için her bir öğrencinin bireysel çok boyutlu özelliklerinin araştırılması gerekir. Pratiğe dayalı ve çok disiplinlilik özelliği gösteren, diğer sağlık çalışanlarına oranla farklı yetkinlikler gerektiren fizyoterapi öğrencilerinin öğrenme stillerinin belirlenmesi önemlidir. Araştırmanın amacı, fizyoterapi eğitimi alan öğrencilerin bireysel öğrenme stillerinin analizini yapmak ve eğitimin etkili ve verimli yapılabilmesi için alınması gereken önlemler konusunda öneriler geliştirmektir. Lisans düzeyinde fizyoterapi eğitimi alan 63 öğrencinin bireysel öğrenme stilleri, Barbara A. Soloman ve Richard M. Felder tarafından geliştirilen Öğrenme Stilleri Anketi’nin 44 değişkenli Türkçe versiyonu kullanılarak belirlendi. Ankette, bilgiyi işleme dışa dönük-içe dönük, bilgiyi algılama duyusal-sezgisel, bilgi girişi görsel-sözel ve bilgiyi anlamada sırasal- bütüncül olarak belirlenen 4 alt parametrenin her biri ile ilgili 11 değişken bulunmaktadır. Dışa dönük\u002Fiçe dönük kategorisinde öğrencilerin %33.3’ü dışa dönük dengeli iken %31.7’si içe dönük dengeli, duyusal\u002Fsezgisel kategorisinde ise öğrencilerin %44.4’i duyusal ılımlı, %39.7’sinin eğilimi görsel ılımlı, sırasal\u002Fbütüncül kategorisinde %41.3’ünün seçimi sırasal ılımlı şeklinde olmuştur. Ilımlı ve dengeli tercih sonuçları, ‘dışa dönük, duyusal, görsel ve sırasal’ boyutlara ağırlık verilen öğretim ortamlarında fizyoterapi öğrencilerinin daha kolay anlayabileceğini göstermektedir. Individuals were evaluated in terms of demographic charecteristics, gait and quality of life. Evaluation of gait used method of foot print, evaluation of quality of life used SF-36. Eighty patients following total knee and hip replacement surgery were assessed with the de Morton Mobility Index (DEMMI), the Timed-Up-and-Go (TUG) and Five Times Sit to Stand Test, the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) measurements of mobility-related activity on discharge day. Demographic information comprised age, body mass index, gender, type of surgery,length of hospital stay. Since the normality of distribution of the data was not confirmed, nonparametric Mann-Whitney-U test was used for analysis. Forty patients (mean age: 66.83±7.39 years) underwent total knee replacement (TKR) and 40 patients (mean age: 62.63±11.95 years) underwent total hip replacement (THR). No statistical difference was found in age, body mass index and length of hospital stay between patients (p>0.05). TKR patients had better results in mean WOMAC total score, WOMAC Physical Functioning Score and mean DEMMI total score compared to THR patients (p\u003C0.05). TUG and Five Times Sit to Stand Test time results showed a trend of deterioration in THR patients than TKR patients. The WOMAC pain, stiffness and total scores were similar between TKR and THR patients. The study included 180 physiotherapists (64% female, 36% male). In addition to demographic characteristics, graduated school, institutions which they were working and professional experience were questioned. A 35-itemed questionnaire, developed by the authors was used to measure the knowledge and its using level of physiotherapists regarding infection risks. 44% of them were working at hospitals, 33% in special education centers and 7% in medical centers. 28 physiotherapists did not specify their institutions. 76% of physiotherapists from hospitals, 38% of physiotherapists from medical centers and, 36% of physiotherapists from special education centers had infection training. 14% of the questionnaire respondents had transmission of infection from patients. There was significant differences between physiotherapists who had and had not infection training, in aspects of using hygiene products such as gloves, masks, disinfectants, and knowing when and for which patients to use these products (p\u003C0.05). Treatments may affect respiratory function. The purpose of the study was to compare pulmonary function and respiratory muscle strength in women with breast cancer and healthy subjects. A total of 40 women, 20 women with breast cancer (Stage I and II, age: 43.6 ± 4.7 years, disease duration: 5.3±0.4 years) and 20 healthy volunteers (age: 40.1±8.3 years), were included in the study. Subjects’ physical and demographic characteristics were recorded. Time from the diagnosis and medical treatments were recorded. Pulmonary function testing was performed. Forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), FEV1\u002FFVC ratio, peak expiratory flow rate (PEF) and forced expiratory flow from 25% to 75% (FEF25-75%) were recorded. Inspiratory and expiratory muscle strength (MIP and MEP, respectively) was measured using a portable mouth pressure device. Breast cancer patients’ FEV1, FEV1\u002FFVC ratio, PEF, and FEF25-75% values were significantly lower than those of healthy subjects (p\u003C0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in MIP and MEP between the groups (p>0.05). According to the results of the study, pulmonary function testing in patients with breast cancer is affected whereas respiratory muscle strength was preserved. aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between hallux valgus and foot function and balance in older men. One hundred and six feet of 53 elderly men (mean age: 73.79±7.08 years) were evaluated in this research. Hallux valgus angle was measured using a goniometer. Foot function, dynamic balance and static balance were evaluated by the forefoot subscale of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Scale, Timed Up & Go Test and single leg stance, respectively, and their relations with hallux valgus were analysed. Hallux valgus angle values were 17.32±11.29 degree for right foot and 16.45±10.65° for left foot. No significant relationship was found between hallux valgus angle (right and left) and static and dynamic balance (p>0.05). However, hallux valgus angles of right and left foot were correlated with the scale scores of American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society scale (r=-0. 34, p=0.01; r=-0. 38,p=0.005, respectively). When compared pre and post-treatment results, comfort of the prosthesis (p=0.048), satisfaction with the appearence of prosthesis (p=0.01), and walking ability (p=0.033) were statistically different. In total, 40 children at the levels 1-3 of the Brooke Lower Extremity Scale are included in this study. 20 of them have been diagnosed distal muscle weakness (mean ages: 12.9±3.3 year), and the other 20 have been proximal muscle weakness (mean ages: 9±3.1). The demographic information were recorded. Ankle joint limitation were measured with goniometer. Their ambulatory capacities were evaluated with the 6 minutes walk test (6MWT). Total walking distances in 6 minutes, strolls that taken, step counts, stride lengths, and cadences were saved. There was not any significant difference between the groups with respect to the limitations in ankle joints’ movement and 6 minute total walking distance (p > 0.05). For the other 6MWT walking parametres, there was a statistically significant difference on the stride lengths in the test in favour of (to the good) the group with distal muscle weakness (p\u003C 0.01). There was a negative correlation between the right (r=-0.579, p=0.01) and left (r=-0.445, p= 0.05) ankle dorsiflexion limitations and 6MWT results in the group with proximal muscle weakness.
