In total, 40 children at the levels 1-3 of the Brooke Lower Extremity Scale are included in this study. 20 of them have been diagnosed distal muscle weakness (mean ages: 12.9±3.3 year), and the other 20 have been proximal muscle weakness (mean ages: 9±3.1). The demographic information were recorded. Ankle joint limitation were measured with goniometer. Their ambulatory capacities were evaluated with the 6 minutes walk test (6MWT). Total walking distances in 6 minutes, strolls that taken, step counts, stride lengths, and cadences were saved. There was not any significant difference between the groups with respect to the limitations in ankle joints’ movement and 6 minute total walking distance (p > 0.05). For the other 6MWT walking parametres, there was a statistically significant difference on the stride lengths in the test in favour of (to the good) the group with distal muscle weakness (p\u003C 0.01). There was a negative correlation between the right (r=-0.579, p=0.01) and left (r=-0.445, p= 0.05) ankle dorsiflexion limitations and 6MWT results in the group with proximal muscle weakness. aim of this study was to present physiotherapists’ knowledge and education about infections; application of protection methods; and the differences according to their workplaces. The study included 180 physiotherapists (64% female, 36% male). In addition to demographic characteristics, graduated school, institutions which they were working and professional experience were questioned. A 35-itemed questionnaire, developed by the authors was used to measure the knowledge and its using level of physiotherapists regarding infection risks. 44% of them were working at hospitals, 33% in special education centers and 7% in medical centers. 28 physiotherapists did not specify their institutions. 76% of physiotherapists from hospitals, 38% of physiotherapists from medical centers and, 36% of physiotherapists from special education centers had infection training. 14% of the questionnaire respondents had transmission of infection from patients. There was significant differences between physiotherapists who had and had not infection training, in aspects of using hygiene products such as gloves, masks, disinfectants, and knowing when and for which patients to use these products (p\u003C0.05). There was a difference in favor of hospitals and medical centers in infection transmission from patient, awareness about hospital-acquired infections unit and wearing smocks, special clothing for special education centers when working with patients (p\u003C0.05). Pleuritis is most common in FMF. Long-term sequelae of respiratory system haven’t been described in FMF. We documented pulmonary manifestations in patient with FMF. A 61-year- old woman presented with dyspnea, unilateral chest pain, generalized myalgia and FMF. Physical examination was unremarkable. Radiological data showed left-sided pleuritis, minimal pleural effusion. Pleural effusion resolved spontaneously in one week later but patient had still dyspnea. Pulmonary function tests (PFT) was normal. Further examination detected respiratory muscle weakness and decreased functional capacity. Patient then underwent inspiratory muscle training (IMT) for six weeks. After training, inspiratory muscle strength and functional capacity increased. Perception of dyspnea and fatique decreased. In long-term follow-up, frequency of attacks decreased. To our knowledge, there is no study on respiratory muscle weakness and IMT in FMF. Although this report doesn’t provide direct evidence, it may provide recommendation for investigation of respiratory muscle weakness and treatment with IMT in FMF with respiratory impairments. Initially, lack of teeth and bruxism status and demographic information of cases were recorded. Before fatigue protocole, masticator muscle pain threshold, maximum pain-free mouth opening and fatigue level of masticator muscles by 5 minutes chewing gum test were evaluated. After that, participants performed fatigue protocole consisting of head flexion and extension at prone position until take 10 points from Modify Borg Scale. And all the tests were re-performed after fatigue protocole. After fatigue protocol, pain threshold of masseter muscles, right temporomandibular joint and left temporalis muscle, maximum pain-free mouth opening and chewing endurance were reduced (p\u003C0.05). Change of fatigue level of mastication muscles at rest was not statistically significant (p>0.05). In our study, we identified that neck fatigue negatively affects some parameteres of masticator muscle immediately. However it is known that stretching exercises generally create pain that makes stretching uncomfortable. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of kinesiotaping on hamstring muscle flexibility and pain during stretching. Fifteen voluntary participants (age=23.53±1.55 years) who have bilateral hamstring tightness were included in the study. Each subject’s lower extremities were randomized with random number generator software and one included in the study group, the other included in control the group. Kinesiotape® was applied to the study group with muscle technique. After kinesiotape application to the study group, both groups did five repetitions of hamstring stretching exercises. Before and after intervention hamstring tightness and pain during hamstring stretching exercise were evaluated. Analysis of the pre and post intervention assessments showed a significant improvement in the study group in active knee extension test and pain during hamstring stretching exercise (p\u003C.01). Study group gained 10.6 (mean) degrees of flexibility (Cohen’s d=0.90). Control group’s results were not significant (p>.01). Application of kinesiotape® muscle technique both increases muscle flexibility and decreases pain during stretching in acute condition. The faculty department\u002Fschools that are giving the education in the physiotherapy and rehabilitation field of science were determined from the websites of ‘The Council of Higher Education’ and ‘Turkish Republic Student Selection and Placement Center’. The establishment dates, quotas, graduations, curriculums and instructors of these department\u002F schools were analyzed. Fifty-six university [32 government (%57.14), 24 foundation (%42.85)] in physiotherapy and rehabilitation field of science were determined according to the 2012 records. Thirty-seven (%66.07) universities and 2556 students have started the education and student quota was aproximately 64.86±19.62 people. Means of total course credits was 184.74±26.38, number of courses was 81.96±20.86 and hours was 245.08±43.64. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of obesity on respiratory muscle strength, exercise capacity, and physical activity level in patients with COPD. Twenty-eight male COPD patients (age: 63.07±6.32 years, FEV1: 36.9±11.0%) participated in this study. The subjects were divided into two groups as overweight\u002Fobese (25≤BMI≤34.9 kg\u002Fm2, n=14) and normal (18.5≤BMI≤24.9 kg\u002Fm2, n=14). Pulmonary function testing and six-minute walk test were performed. Respiratory muscle strength was evaluated using a portable mouth pressure device. Physical activity level of the subjects was determined using an accelerometer. Airway obstruction level was similar in both groups (p>0.05). Overweight\u002Fobese COPD patients’ inspiratory muscle strength (94.57±18.72 cmH2O), expiratory muscle strength (155.07±42.86 cmH2O), and physical activity level (319.3 kcal\u002Fday) were statistically higher than patients with a normal BMI (inspiratory muscle strength: 79.64±26.14 cmH2O, expiratory muscle strength: 124.36±23.70 cmH2O, and physical activity level: 275.9 kcal\u002Fdays, p\u003C0.05). Eighty patients following total knee and hip replacement surgery were assessed with the de Morton Mobility Index (DEMMI), the Timed-Up-and-Go (TUG) and Five Times Sit to Stand Test, the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) measurements of mobility-related activity on discharge day. Demographic information comprised age, body mass index, gender, type of surgery,length of hospital stay. Since the normality of distribution of the data was not confirmed, nonparametric Mann-Whitney-U test was used for analysis. Forty patients (mean age: 66.83±7.39 years) underwent total knee replacement (TKR) and 40 patients (mean age: 62.63±11.95 years) underwent total hip replacement (THR). No statistical difference was found in age, body mass index and length of hospital stay between patients (p>0.05). TKR patients had better results in mean WOMAC total score, WOMAC Physical Functioning Score and mean DEMMI total score compared to THR patients (p\u003C0.05). TUG and Five Times Sit to Stand Test time results showed a trend of deterioration in THR patients than TKR patients. The WOMAC pain, stiffness and total scores were similar between TKR and THR patients.
