The JTSE is headquartered in Hanoi.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp style=\"text-align:justify;\">        The JTSE is published every 3 months (4 issues\u002Fyear), publishing research results and overview articles in 3 groups of fields: Tropical Ecology and Environment; Chemistry and Material Sciences; Biomedicine and Pharmacy. In 2022, the JTSE registered the international identifier Digital Object Identifier (DOI): 10.58334\u002Fvrtc.jtst and assigned DOI codes to all articles of the journal. The members of the Editorial Board of the JTSE are prestigious scientists and leading scientists from Vietnam and many countries in the world. The JTSE has been recognized by the Vietnam State Council for Professorship to score scientific articles in Chemistry, Medicine and Biology with scores ranging from 0-0.75 points.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp Những bài báo không đúng quy cách hoặc có nội dung không phù hợp hoặc vi phạm bản quyền sẽ bị từ chối (Ban Thư ký thông báo phản hồi đến tác giả trong vòng 1 tuần). Những bài báo đủ điều kiện, được Ban Thư ký tòa soạn chuyển đến Ban Biên tập có cùng chuyên môn với nội dung bài báo để đề xuất người phản biện. Các phản biện gởi nhận xét cho Ban Thư ký. Nếu ý kiến đồng ý đăng và cần chỉnh sửa, Ban Thư ký sẽ thông tin đến tác giả chỉnh sửa theo yêu cầu của người phản biện. Thời gian chỉnh sửa và gửi lại kéo dài không quá 2 tuần, từ khi tác giả bài báo nhận được thông tin (Quá trình này có thể lặp lại tối đa 2 lần\u002F1 bài báo). Ban Thư ký tổng hợp các bản thảo đã được tác giả hoàn thiện sau thẩm định trình Ban Biên tập xem xét, Tổng Biên tập phê duyệt, quyết định bài đăng theo các tiêu chí: sự phù hợp nội dung với tôn chỉ và mục đích, thể loại bài viết (ưu tiên các bài có bài có nghiên cứu chuyên sâu, hàm lượng khoa học cao), đóng góp mới bài báo, bài báo được ưu tiên đăng trong số gần nhất của Tạp chí theo thứ tự: tính thời sự, chất lượng bài báo và thời gian gửi bài.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>\u003Cbr>\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>\u003Cspan style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">2. Several safe and effective vaccines have been approved and succeeded in reducing the rate of patients with severe symptoms and that of mortality. Currently, most countries have chosen to change their policy from “zero Covid” to “live with” the pandemic and opened their boundaries to recover their economy. However, the emergence of new dangerous variants such as Delta or Omicron significantly reduces the effectiveness of vaccines and therefore, is complicating the pandemic control. In addition to the use of vaccines, the development of antiviral drugs is extremely important to tackle this worldwide threat. Currently, the approved anti-COVID-19 agents consist of two main categories, including spike protein (S) targeted monoclonal antibodies and orally available small molecule antiviral agents. However, the biopharmaceutical approach still incurs significant drawbacks such as bad bioavailability, expensive and growing resistance of the virus due to the accumulation of mutations in the receptor binding domain (RBD) of the spike protein in new variants. On the other hand, small molecule antiviral agents are a more appealing approach as their main therapeutic targets are intrinsic enzymes which are less likely to mutate, hence remaining inhibitory activity against different variants. disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia in the elderly, which is clinically characterized by the progressive deterioration of memory and other cognitive functions that results in the loss of autonomy and ultimately leading to death. Increasing life expectancy has resulted in AD becomes a global public health concern, especially in developing countries as Vietnam. While there is currently no effective treatment for the disease, early detection of AD is critical to slow disease progression, prevent long-term morbidity and mortality, as well as reducing healthcare spending. The diagnosis of AD currently relies on clinical criteria, including mental status assessment, neurological examination, and brain imaging tests. However, these imaging methods are conclusive only in the advanced stages of disease, whereas AD physiopathology begins several decades before onset of the first symptoms. It is therefore particularly important to identify potential biomarkers that can be used in the early detection of AD aim to evaluate the efficiency of therapeutic agents under testing and to thus accelerate the therapeutic discovery process. The aim of the review was to highlight the current knowledge as well as future perspectives on the role of biomarkers in screening, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of Alzheimer’s Pediatric uveitis and its complications are important causes of child blindness. Strong inflammatory response and unstable treatment compliance result in worse treatment outcome than adults and frequent recurrence. However, effective anti-inflammatory treatment can still lead to good result. Case report: We report a case of pan-uveitis in a 13-year-old patient, complicating in cataract formation who was successfully treated and regained 20\u002F20 final visual acuity. The patient was admitted to us due to blurry vision, pain and redness on her left eye, with best-corrected visual acuity 12\u002F20, intraocular pressure 15 mmHg, ciliary flush, anterior chamber cell and constricted pupil with poor light reflex. Her left eye was diagnosed with anterior uveitis and treated with topical prednisone acetate along with peri-orbital injection of dexamethasone. At 1-week follow-up, her left eye showed significant progress with best-corrected visual acuity being 16\u002F20 and no inflammatory reaction detected. Due to social distancing in Covid-19 pandemic, she was unable to have follow-up examinations; her condition worsened to pan-uveitis which complicated in cataract formation and her visual acuity fell down to counting finger 0.5m. She was then treated with systemic methylprednisolone in 2 weeks and local corticosteroids in 6 months, including 3 consecutive peri-orbital injections of triamcinolone acetate with monthly interval and topical prednisone acetate; after that she underwent cataract surgery with anterior vitreous humor removed and intraocular lens implanted in the ciliary sulcus. At 1-month follow-up, best-correct visual acuity of her left eye was 20\u002F20 and intraocular pressure was 16 mmHg, the inflammatory response of her left eye was completely in control. Conclusion: Effective anti-inflammatory treatment even after surgery (if existed) takes the decisive role in regaining patient’s vision. Studies on propacetamol synthesis on laboratory scale as well as industrial scale with safe, simple and economic procedures are crucial. Over the last few years, a number of studies have been demonstrating the advantages of replacing the traditional heating methods with microwave irradiation. The improved procedure for synthesizing (4-acetamidophenyl) 2-(diethylamino) acetate hydrochloride with N-(4- hydroxyphenyl) acetamide as the starting material is described in this study. Reaction conditions including molar ratio, solvent, catalyst and reaction time were evaluated in order to enhance the synthesis performance. The structure of products obtained after each reaction were determined by using HPLC, MS and NMR methods. The results show a simple process and short reaction time for synthesis of propacetamol from p-acetaminophenol as the starting material. Additionally, the quality and purity of final products meet pharmaceutical standards and high total reaction yield is achieved through the application of microwaves with the suitable catalysts and Common complications include hypertensive disorders, preterm birth, congenital abnormalities, and those specific to twin gestations. Among these, preterm birth is the most prevalent, with a rate exceeding 50% in twin pregnancies, 10.8 times higher than in singleton pregnancies. Preterm birth not only leads to significant neonatal morbidity and mortality but also imposes a substantial economic burden for neonatal care. Approximately 70% of preterm infant deaths occur in the neonatal period, and 50% of these children die within the first five years of life. The cornerstone of managing threatened preterm labor focuses on preventing or inhibiting uterine contractions, thereby prolonging pregnancy to allow for the administration of corticosteroids for fetal lung maturation, magnesium sulfate for fetal neuroprotection, and transfer to a tertiary care center. Atosiban is a highly effective tocolytic agent with minimal maternal and fetal side effects.\r\nMethods: This was a retrospective case series study of 81 pregnant women with twin gestations diagnosed with threatened preterm labor, who were treated with Atosiban at Tu Du Hospital.\r\nResults: The mean pregnancy prolongation was 120 hours. The rate of pregnancy prolongation for ≥ 48 hours was 88.9%. The incidence of adverse effects from Atosiban was low (2.5%).\r\nConclusion: Atosiban is a highly effective and well-tolerated tocolytic agent for the management of threatened preterm labor in women complicated and more difficult to repair over time.\r\nObjective: to determine the degree of correlation between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and knee arthroscopy in diagnosing meniscal injuries in patients with ACL tears.\r\nSubjects and Methods: A prospective descriptive study was conducted on 91 patients who underwent knee MRI and were diagnosed with ACL tears through knee arthroscopy at Thong Nhat Hospital from April 2023 to April 2024. Results: Accuracy of MRI and its correlation with arthroscopy in detecting meniscal injuries: 70.3%, with a Kappa coefficient of 0.401, p<0.001, indicating a low degree of agreement between MRI and arthroscopy results. Diagnosis of meniscal injury location: 57.1%, with a Kappa coefficient of 0.346, p<0.001, indicating a low degree of agreement between MRI and arthroscopy results.\r\nDiagnosis of the injury region: Accuracy over 85%, with Kappa coefficients ranging from 0.3 to 0.57, p<0.001, depending on the location and region of the meniscal injury. Diagnosis of the morphology of meniscal injuries: Accuracy over 89%, with Kappa coefficients ranging from 0.258 to 0.616, p<0.001, depending on the location and morphology of the injury.\r\nConclusion: There is a minimal to moderate correlation between MRI and arthroscopy in detecting, diagnosing the location, region, and morphology of meniscal injuries in patients with ACL tears. increases the severity of knee degeneration, heightens knee pain levels, raises the risk of falls, reduces activity capacity, and decreases quality of life, thereby leading to higher rates of disability and dependency.\r\nObjectives: Determining the prevalence of sarcopenia and factors associated with sarcopenia in elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis.\r\nParticipants and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 126 patients aged ≥60 (the average age was 73.70±8.11, female\u002Fmale: 76.2\u002F23.8%) with KOA at the Rheumatology Clinic of Thong Nhat Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, from November 2023 to May 2024. KOA was diagnosed according to the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria established in 1991. Appendicular Skeletal Muscle (ASM) was assessed using the InBody 270 bioelectrical impedance analysis device, and sarcopenia was diagnosed based on the 2019 consensus of the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia (AWGS).\r\nResults: The prevalence of sarcopenia in elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) was 54.0%. There was an association between sarcopenia and several factors in elderly KOA patients, including Kellgren–Lawrence (K\u002FL) grade 3–4 on X-ray (p<0.001, OR=12.53, 95% confidence interval (CI): 3.23–48.58), age ≥80 years (p=0.005, OR=9.11, 95% CI: 1.97–42.21), low physical activity levels (p=0.003, OR=5.48, 95% CI: 1.77–16.93), and malnutrition or malnourished (p<0.001, OR=6.61, 95% CI: 2.36–18.58), when included in multivariable logistic regression analysis.\r\nConclusions: Sarcopenia in elderly patients with KOA in this study had a relatively high prevalence. Ho Chi Minh City from March 2016 to June 2022. On the CBCT image, the morphological characteristics of third molars were examined, including: mesial angulations, vertical and horizontal positions, impaction depth, degree of root formation, contact position between second and third molars. ERR of the distal surface of the root of the second molars assessed according to the Ericson and Kurol criteria. Results: The rate of ERR on the distal surface of the second molar was 21.39%, in which the cervical was the most frequent position, followed by the middle of the root and finally the apex; most of the cases were slight resorptions. There was no statistically significant difference between the rate, location and degree of ERR by age and sex. There was no statistically significant relationship between the rate of ERR and the morphological characteristics of third molars except the vertical position of third molars. It is often associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes. According to the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, up to 90% of cases diagnosised with cystic hygroma result in fetal demise. At Department of Antenatal Care - Tu Du Hospital, we report a clinical case of live newborn with prenatal diagnosis of cystic hygroma that underwent spontaneous regression during pregnancy, with normal genetic testing resul. At 5 days old, the newborn had normal echocardiography and general examination at the Children’s Hospital 2 revealed no abnomolities. Therefore, cystic hygroma is not an indication for medical termination of pregnancy. Patients were interviewed with a prepared questionnaire. Medication adherence was defined based on scores of Morisky questions: good adherence: MMAS = 8, moderate adherence: 6 ≤ MMAS < 8 and poor adherence: MMAS < 6.\r\nResults: 47,7% patients were administrated with dual therapy; metformin and gliclazid were most commonly used (93,9% and 40,3%, respectively). The prevalence of medication adherence was 73,7%; proportion of good and moderate adherence were 19,7% and 54,0%, respectively. The odds of medication adherence in smoking group was 89% lower than non-smoking group (OR = 0,11; 95% CI: 0,03 – 0,38; p < 0,001); this figure in insulin group was 61% lower than group not using insulin (OR = 0,39; 95% CI: 0,2 – 0,79; p = 0,008) and the odds of adherence in male patients was 2,3 times higher than female patients (OR = 2,3; 95% CI: 1,19 – 4,44, p= 0,014).\r\nConclusions: Medication adherence prevalence of type 2 diabetes patients at Thong Nhat Hospital is moderate.
