Patients with osteoarthritis of the hip joint referred to the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Chiba University Hospital were eligible for participation in the study. All the patients completed painDETECT and visual analogue scales and underwent radiological examination. We classified the patients into three groups: likely neuropathic pain, possible neuropathic pain and unlikely neuropathic pain by painDETECT score. And we evaluated the relationships between painDETECT score and radiological findings, visual analogue scales score and age. One hundred thirty-five patients participated in this study. In all, 8 (5.9%) were classified as likely neuropathic pain, 17 (12.6%) as possible neuropathic pain, and 110 (81.5%) as unlikely neuropathic pain. Visual analogue scales scores were significantly higher in likely neuropathic pain and possible neuropathic pain patients than in unlikely neuropathic pain patients. painDETECT score did not significantly correlate with radiological findings or age but did positively correlate with visual analogue scales score (rs = 0.53, p \u003C 0.001). Our study results suggest that in a certain percentage of patients, the mechanism of pain in osteoarthritis of the hip joint is predominantly neuropathic in origin.",{"EN":152},"Neuropathic pain in Gastric metastasis from a soft-tissue sarcoma of the extremity is likewise very rare, with only a few previously reported cases. Here, we describe the case of a 52-year-old man with gastric metastasis who underwent en bloc excision of the primary tumor and distal gastrectomy but died 6 months after surgery due to lung metastases. This is, to our knowledge, the first reported case of gastric metastasis from pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcoma of the extremity. The occurrence of wound complications is a serious concern in treating calcaneal fractures. The purpose of the present study was to describe and evaluate the mid-term results of a modified minimally invasive technique for treatment of intra-articular fractures of the calcaneus. Fifty-two patients with 61 closed, intra-articular fractures of the calcaneus were enrolled in a prospective cohort study. They were treated with a minimally invasive technique combining a limited lateral approach and percutaneous screws. Clinical and radiographic data were analyzed. The minimum follow-up period was 2 years. Combining the anatomical and functional results, an overall rating of good, fair, and poor was assigned to each fracture. The results were good in 51 feet (83.6 %), fair in 6 feet, and poor in 4 feet. The results of the current study were comparable to the results achieved using other minimally invasive techniques while avoiding the serious soft tissue complications encountered with open surgery.
