Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) was carried out and the results confirmed the formation and presence of TiO\u003Cjats:sub>2\u003C\u002Fjats:sub> nanorods by shifting peak positions from 1433 cm\u003Cjats:sup>−1\u003C\u002Fjats:sup> to 1424cm\u003Cjats:sup>−1\u003C\u002Fjats:sup> and 1420cm\u003Cjats:sup>−1\u003C\u002Fjats:sup>. The x-ray diffraction (XRD) results indicate that the crystallinity of TiO\u003Cjats:sub>2\u003C\u002Fjats:sub> nanorods increased significantly and was confirmed by the variation in the diffraction peak intensity and the peak at 2\u003Cjats:italic>θ\u003C\u002Fjats:italic> = 25.23° is conformed the anatase phase. The Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) images clearly show the formation and presence of TiO\u003Cjats:sub>2\u003C\u002Fjats:sub> nanorods. Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) reveal that increasing in thermal stability and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) evaluates the increase in melting temperature of TiO\u003Cjats:sub>2\u003C\u002Fjats:sub> nanorods. The UV–vis absorption spectra show the absorption peak redshift towards higher wavelength and it leads to expansion of optical activities of TiO\u003Cjats:sub>2\u003C\u002Fjats:sub> nanorods. The optical band gap energy was found to be decreased to 5.3, 5.2 and 4.9 eV for P25, 20 and 40 mg respectively. The dielectric constant has increased twice and the dielectric loss by almost ten times compared to dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the P25. The current versus voltage (I-V) characteristics show the linear curve which reveals the easy flow of current is more in TiO\u003Cjats:sub>2\u003C\u002Fjats:sub> nanorods. Metal rubber (MR) has the characteristics of low density, high damping performance and high elasticity, which shows great potential in the field of protection. However, there are few studies on the dynamic mechanical response of MR under high-speed impact. A series of experiments were carried out to study the mechanical properties of MR. It is found that the deformation mechanism of the metal wire inside the MR determines the mechanical properties. Under quasi-static conditions, the stress-strain of MR includes an elastic stage, a softening stage and a hardening stage, and the stress-strain under high-speed impact includes an elastic stage, a softening stage and a failure stage. In addition, the smaller the wire diameter, the higher the load-bearing capacity of the MR. The damage characteristics of MR under high-speed impact are divided into expansion failure and compaction failure, which will affect mechanical performance in the failure stage. The calculated energy absorption and ideal energy absorption efficiency show that MR is a material with excellent energy absorption properties. The dynamic elastic modulus and dynamic peak stress of MR have strain rate effect and density effect.
