The journal includes within its scope all aspects of management related to strategy, entrepreneurship, innovation, technology, and organizations as well as all functional areas of business, such as accounting, finance, information systems, marketing, and operations. The journal includes studies on organizational, managerial, group and individual decision making, from both normative and descriptive perspectives. The articles are primarily based on the foundational disciplines of computer science, economics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, and statistics, but cross-functional, multidisciplinary research that reflects the diversity of the management science professions is also encouraged. The journal interest extends to managerial issues in diverse organizational forms, such as for-profit and nonprofit firms, private and public sector institutions, and formal and informal networks of individuals. We welcome theoretical, experimental (field or lab) and empirical contributions. The unifying thread of all Management Science articles is an analytical focus on improving the understanding of management. An acceptable manuscript must be relevant to the theory or practice of management, must meet high standards of rigor, and must be of broad interest to the community of management science scholars.","PUBLISHER","PENDING",null,0,[27,33
"3a20e05c-518b-4393-bc39-ba5a6338d455",[
Strategy and Management",{
"1700c9d4-8702-4a01-8854-5ab9fde7d2df",[
Management Science and Operations Research",{},[40,47
"2a39ca18-b363-4898-8617-7d389437def1",[
INFORMS Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences",[
"a0bbee2d-eb8e-4050-bf42-fac4edd70f06",[
INFORMS",[],[55,73,90
"3252665a-9862-488e-8452-e22296ebe57a
"3c7051d4-eb7d-4c57-a56b-36fc74c5d1e9",[
Scopus - Elsevier
Cơ sở dữ liệu Scopus thuộc Elsevier","scopus",[66],"SCOPUS","https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/21307","1969-2025",[70,71],"9257bd7d-2e00-4865-a19e-9796f3a21c3f","7086824b-eb45-445b-8376-86a12c76bd0d","SCOPUS__Q1
"ac64bf67-8379-4b1f-83a8-92ca109fc803
"a4921856-b128-4d9f-8f1f-e80813d3bbd4",[
ISI/SCIE - Science Citation Index Expanded
SCIE database","Cơ sở dữ liệu SCIE","scie",[85,86],"SCIE","ISI","https://mjl.clarivate.com/search-results?issn=0025-1909",[89],"ef99e6f3-ace4-49a6-aa47-d5e24f7d2768
"dff342e4-a9e6-4f5a-b5c8-d975d75da071
"a8273be3-1221-4f26-949d-71dc71ff1fc3",[
ISI-SSCI - Social Sciences Citation Index
SSCI database","Cơ sở dữ liệu SSCI","ssci",[102,86],"SSCI",[104],"20860adf-3dd5-4837-b6d7-7a5dee4ede58","https://pubsonline.informs.org/journal/mnsc
"325",[110,264,370,509,711,1003,1109,1340,1479,1597
"e4e25394-29b0-40f4-8163-76be7ed86fe2","2024-09-06T00:05:27.589+00:00","2026-07-22T01:59:43.897+00:00",[],"A-Heuristic-Algorithm-for-the-i-n-i-Job-i-m-i-Machine-Sequencing-Problem
"W2118371226
2118371226
This paper describes a simple algorithm for the solution of very large sequence problems without the use of a computer. The procedure is based on a depth-first solution strategy in which nodes in the solution tree represent resource and precedence feasible partial schedules. Branches emanating from a parent node correspond to exhaustive and minimal combinations of activities, the delay of which resolves resource conflicts at each parent node. Precedence and resource-based bounds described in the paper are combined with new dominance pruning rules to rapidly fathom major portions of the solution tree. The procedure is programmed in the C language for use on both a mainframe and a personal computer. The procedure has been validated using a standard set of test problems with between 7 and 50 activities requiring up to three resource types each. Computational experience on a personal computer indicates that the procedure is 11.6 times faster than the most rapid solution procedure reported in the literature while requiring less computer storage. For fossil fuel power plants to be built in the future, carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies offer the potential for significant reductions in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. We examine the break-even value for CCS adoptions, that is, the critical value in the charge for CO2 emissions that would justify investment in CCS capabilities. Our analysis takes explicitly into account that the supply of electricity at the wholesale level (generation) is organized competitively in some U.S. jurisdictions, whereas in others a regulated utility provides integrated generation and distribution services. For either market structure, we find that emissions charges near $30 per tonne of CO2 would be the break-even value for adopting CCS capabilities at new coal-fired power plants. The corresponding break-even values for natural gas plants are substantially higher, near $60 per tonne. Our break-even estimates serve as a basis for projecting the change in electricity prices once carbon emissions become costly. CCS capabilities effectively put an upper bound on the increase in electricity prices resulting from carbon regulations, and we estimate this bound to be near 30% at the retail level for both coal and natural gas plants. In contrast to the competitive power supply scenario, however, these price increases materialize only gradually for a regulated utility. The delay in price adjustments reflects that for regulated firms the basis for setting product prices is historical cost, rather than current cost.
This paper was accepted by Gérard P. The choice functions of agents with multiunit demand are therefore not substitutable. As a result, pairwise stable matchings may not exist and even when they do, may be highly inefficient. We provide an algorithm that finds a group-stable matching that approximately satisfies all the multidimensional knapsack constraints. The novel ingredient in our algorithm is a combination of matching with contracts and Scarf’s Lemma. We show that the degree of the constraint violation under our algorithm is proportional to the sparsity of the constraint matrix. The algorithm, therefore, provides practical constraint violation bounds for applications in contexts, such as refugee resettlement, day care allocation, and college admissions with diversity requirements. Simulations using refugee resettlement data show that our approach produces outcomes that are not only more stable, but also more efficient than the outcomes of the Deferred Acceptance algorithm. Moreover, simulations suggest that in practice, constraint violations under our algorithm would be even smaller than the theoretical bounds.
This paper was accepted by In this paper, we discuss two contractual agreements by which product recall costs can be shared between a manufacturer and a supplier to induce quality improvement effort. More specifically, we consider (i) cost sharing based on selective root cause analysis (Contract S), and (ii) partial cost sharing based on complete root cause analysis (Contract P). Using insights from supermodular game theory, for each contractual agreement, we characterize the levels of effort the manufacturer and the supplier would exert in equilibrium to improve their component failure rate when their effort choices are subject to moral hazard. We show that both Contract S and Contract P can achieve the first best effort levels; however, Contract S results in higher profits for the manufacturer and the supply chain. For the case in which the information about the quality of the supplier's product is not revealed to the manufacturer (i.e., the case of information asymmetry), we develop a menu of contracts that can be used to mitigate the impact of information asymmetry. We show that the menu of contracts not only significantly decreases the manufacturer's cost due to information asymmetry, but also improves product quality.
Quality Improvement Incentives and Product Recall Cost Sharing Contracts
["8087852448524068514"]
10.1287/mnsc.1090.1008",[133],"https://pubsonline.informs.org/doi/10.1287/mnsc.1090.1008",[1131,1150,1171
"8ac99acc-ae77-4c5a-8d1f-280bd1ab744e",[],[1135
"99bbdbba-97f8-4c50-929f-c018606d641a
[
College of Business, Kutztown University, Kutztown, Pennsylvania 19530#TAB#",[
Bài báo này đã được chấp nhận bởi J. However, in today's world, MBGs are ubiquitous among major retailers, even when the likelihood of product return varies greatly between them. To understand this phenomenon, we explore a competitive environment between high- and low-quality retailers where consumers are fully informed and risk neutral, and retailers realize a salvage value for returned products. When MBGs are profitable, under continuous demand it is Nash equilibrium for both retailers to offer MBGs, and the low-quality retailer gains while the high-quality retailer loses relative to when MBGs are not offered. In contrast, if demand is lumpy, retailers can act monopolistically over their respective market segments, allowing both retailers to gain from MBGs, although the low-quality retailer still gains more.
This paper was accepted by J. Innovation is defined as the development and implementation of new ideas by people who over time engage in transactions with others within an institutional order. This definition focuses on four basic factors (new ideas, people, transactions, and institutional context). An understanding of how these factors are related leads to four basic problems confronting most general managers: (1) a human problem of managing attention, (2) a process problem in managing new ideas into good currency, (3) a structural problem of managing part-whole relationships, and (4) a strategic problem of institutional leadership. This paper discusses these four basic problems and concludes by suggesting how they fit together into an overall framework to guide longitudinal study of the management of innovation.
","
Central Problems in the Management of Innovation","Các Vấn Đề Trung Tâm Trong Quản Lý Đổi Mới
quản lý đổi mới, ý tưởng mới, giao dịch, bối cảnh thể chế, lãnh đạo thể chế
10.1287/mnsc.32.5.590",[133],[1365],"https://pubsonline.informs.org/doi/10.1287/mnsc.32.5.590",[1504
"75ee4cfb-ce5e-4ed6-bb45-a69811e2d377",[],[1508
"75d81e67-eb4a-45ee-957e-3a2b97faa14b
[
School of Management, The University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55455#TAB#",[
"Andrew H.
