Những bài báo không đúng quy cách hoặc có nội dung không phù hợp hoặc vi phạm bản quyền sẽ bị từ chối (Ban Thư ký thông báo phản hồi đến tác giả trong vòng 1 tuần). Những bài báo đủ điều kiện, được Ban Thư ký tòa soạn chuyển đến Ban Biên tập có cùng chuyên môn với nội dung bài báo để đề xuất người phản biện. Các phản biện gởi nhận xét cho Ban Thư ký. Nếu ý kiến đồng ý đăng và cần chỉnh sửa, Ban Thư ký sẽ thông tin đến tác giả chỉnh sửa theo yêu cầu của người phản biện. Thời gian chỉnh sửa và gửi lại kéo dài không quá 2 tuần, từ khi tác giả bài báo nhận được thông tin (Quá trình này có thể lặp lại tối đa 2 lần\u002F1 bài báo). Khi có sự thống nhất, đồng ý của người phản biện; bài báo được tiếp tục đăng theo qui trình.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>\u003Cbr>\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>\u003Cspan style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">3. Ban Thư ký tổng hợp các bản thảo đã được tác giả hoàn thiện sau thẩm định trình Ban Biên tập xem xét, Tổng Biên tập phê duyệt, quyết định bài đăng theo các tiêu chí: sự phù hợp nội dung với tôn chỉ và mục đích, thể loại bài viết (ưu tiên các bài có bài có nghiên cứu chuyên sâu, hàm lượng khoa học cao), đóng góp mới bài báo, bài báo được ưu tiên đăng trong số gần nhất của Tạp chí theo thứ tự: tính thời sự, chất lượng bài báo và thời gian gửi bài.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>\u003Cbr>\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>\u003Cspan style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">2. The data are derived from the author's own research including test series not published before and from more than 400 other test series comprising approximately 3000 specimens known from literature and personal contact. The data cover a variety of concretes with aggregates such as siliceous materials, limestone, granite, sea gravel, pumice, and expanded clay to fire-resistant concrete based on chamotte or Danish mo-clay. Processes are briefly described that are responsible for the deterioration of the materials when they are heated and when they are cooled down after a fire. In addition, it is explained how variations of the concrete composition influences the deterioration. Necessary characteristics of design methods are derived for variable fire courses based on analyses of consequences of material deterioration. The paper serves as a basis for a number of papers presenting calculation methods developed by the author for load-bearing capacity of any structure of any concrete at any time of any fire exposure. Some of these methods and related materials data are adopted in the CEN: ENV 1992-1-2 code and national codes such as the Danish DS411. While some studies have found a deleterious effect of the ITZ, results from others seem to suggest otherwise. The present study examines the relative influences of ITZ and microcracking on the oxygen diffusivity, oxygen permeability and water sorptivity, to further enhance understanding of the links between microstructure and transport properties. Specimens of several neat cement pastes, mortars and concretes were prepared and tested. Variables include water\u002Fcement (w\u002Fc) ratio (0·3 and 0·5), binder type (CEM I and CEM II with 8% silica fume), curing period (3 and 90 days), aggregate volume fraction (0–70%) and preconditioning temperature (50°C and 105°C). 105°C drying was adapted to induce microcracking. Backscattered electron microscopy and image analysis were applied to characterise the microstructure, in particular the microcracks. It was observed that in all cases, the transport properties of mortars decreased with increasing ITZ fraction. Permeability was far more sensitive to the presence of microcracking and changes in total porosity, compared with diffusivity or sorptivity. However, no critical threshold sand content linked to an ITZ percolation effect was found, even in the deliberately damaged samples. Concretes have about the same diffusivity and sorptivity, but significantly higher permeability than mortars with the same volume fraction of aggregate, despite a lower ITZ fraction. It is argued that the higher permeability of concrete is attributable to more microcracking, and because the microcracks and paste are less tortuous than the equivalent mortar. This study investigated the influence of crack width (0·7 mm, 0·4 mm and incipient cracks), binder type (100% CEM I (ordinary Portland cement – OPC) and 50\u002F50 OPC\u002FCorex slag blend), water-to-binder (w\u002Fb) ratio (0·40 and 0·55) and crack reopening on chloride-induced corrosion in RC specimens with constant cover of 40 mm. Over the study period (31 weeks), corrosion rates varied from passive values of 0·01 μA\u002Fcm\u003Cjats:sup>2\u003C\u002Fjats:sup> to active values of 1·50 μA\u002Fcm\u003Cjats:sup>2\u003C\u002Fjats:sup>. Results indicate that corrosion rate is sensitive to crack width, concrete quality (i.e. binder type and w\u002Fb ratio) and crack reopening. For a given binder type and w\u002Fb ratio, corrosion rate increased with increasing crack width; however, this increase was smaller in Corex slag specimens (increases of 40% or more) than in OPC specimens (increases 210% or more). Corex slag specimens generally had lower corrosion rates compared to OPC specimens. For both OPC and Corex slag specimens, corrosion rate decreased with decreasing w\u002Fb ratio. Crack reopening increased the corrosion rate in the cracked specimens. These variables were found to have a significant effect on concrete heated to the lower range of temperatures but their effect became less pronounced at high temperatures. Almost all the loss of compressive strength occurred within two hours of exposure to the maximum temperature. Pulse velocity measurements did not predict the residual strengths accurately and appeared to be more indicative of the levels of temperature to which the concrete had been exposed. In a recent paper, Abdalla and Karihaloo confirmed the boundary effect hypothesis of Hu and Wittmann and observed that a size-independent specific fracture energy This observation was based on TPB and WS tests on limited number of specimens. In this paper, we have re-evaluated 26 test data sets on specific fracture energy of concrete published in the literature to assess the validity of this observation. The re-evaluation is found to support this observation. The determination of the true specific fracture energy G\u003Cjats:sub>F\u003C\u002Fjats:sub> of concrete thus becomes a simple and straightforward task requiring very few specimens of the same dimensions and shape. Synopsis \u003C\u002Fjats:p>\u003Cjats:p> High alumina cement (HAC) concrete suffers from a conversion reaction in which the metastable calcium aluminate hydrate compounds change to more stable compounds. This reaction takes place at a rate which depends upon a number offactors including temperature, water\u002Fcement ratio, stress and the presence of ‘releasable’ alkalis in the aggregate. As a result of the reaction, the concrete will lose strength and the strength will reach a minimum at various times depending upon conditions of storage; thereafter there may be a small increase in strength. The strength at this minimum, S, expressed as a percentage of the one-day strength depends upon the rate, R, at which the conversion reaction takes place, and upon the water\u002Fcement ratio.
