Thời gian chỉnh sửa và gửi lại kéo dài không quá 2 tuần, từ khi tác giả bài báo nhận được thông tin (Quá trình này có thể lặp lại tối đa 2 lần\u002F1 bài báo). Nineteen boys, aged 5–10 years with DSM-IV diagnoses of ADHD were compared with 19 control children on three representational measures assessing internal working models of attachment and the self: the Separation Anxiety Test, the Self Interview, and a Family Drawing rated with an attachment-based scoring system. Consistent support was found for the hypothesis that ADHD is associated with insecurity of attachment, with the ADHD group obtaining poorer scores on all three measures. The nature of attachment insecurity in the ADHD group was one of heightened emotional expression characterized by strong, out of control affects, and was consistent with an anxious-ambivalent or disorganized attachment style. Third, we examined whether mother-child dyads’ psychological distress was dependent on who was the main war trauma victim in the family: the mother, the child or both. Fourth, we tested whether mother-child dyads express similar or different symptoms. The sample consists of 121 Palestinian children (aged 6-16 years; 45% girls and 55% boys), and their mothers (aged 21-55 years) living under conditions of military violence and war in Gaza. Child psychological distress was measured using the CPTS-RI (child-reported) and Rutter Parent Questionnaire (mother-reported), and mothers’ mental health was measured using the SCL-90-R. The results failed to show any moderating effect of good maternal mental health or low neuroticism in protecting child mental health from negative impact of war trauma. The main effects showed that the child’s young age, war trauma and poor maternal mental health were associated with children’s internalizing symptoms, and male gender, maternal neuroticism and poor mental health with children’s externalizing symptoms. There were gender differences in psychological distress depending on whether the mother, the child or both were the main war trauma victim in the family: girls showed particularly high psychological distress when their mothers were exposed to war trauma (family systems model), whereas boys showed high levels of distress when both they themselves and their mothers were exposed to war trauma (accumulative impact model). For example, autistic, anxious, high- and low-emotion conduct problem children, and children who have been maltreated, all appear to show specific deficits and strengths in recognizing the facial expressions of emotions. Until now, the relationships between emotion recognition, antisocial behaviour, emotional problems, callous-unemotional (CU) traits and early maltreatment have never been assessed simultaneously in one study, and the specific associations of emotion recognition to maltreatment and child characteristics are therefore unknown. We examined facial-emotion processing in a sample of 23 adolescents selected for high-risk status on the variables of interest. As expected, maltreatment and child characteristics showed unique associations. CU traits were uniquely related to impairments in fear recognition. Antisocial behaviour was uniquely associated with better fear recognition, but impaired anger recognition. Emotional problems were associated with better recognition of anger and sadness, but lower recognition of neutral faces. Maltreatment was predictive of superior recognition of fear and sadness. The findings are considered in terms of social information-processing theories of psychopathology. places considerable demands upon parents. The purpose of this study was to gain greater insight and understanding into the experience of parents in terms of the stressors encountered and the resultant impact on parental well-being. Reflecting this aim, the study utilized a qualitative methodology, focused group technique. Parents expressed the impact of JCA in terms of guilt, anxiety, anger, frustration, helplessness, powerlessness and isolation. Lack of information and inadequate support hindered their efforts to cope with their child's pain and disability. Social barriers, particularly in the school environment, emerged as significant sources of stress. Anorexia nervosa is not a straightforward Western culture-bound syndrome, although an influence of Western ideals of thinness does exist. The illness seems more related to rapid cultural shifts, either societal or individual, such as those occurring in the migratory process. Migrants and their children have to face the acculturation process and may experience a culture-clash. The pathology can also fulfil a positive acculturative function. This is a case study concerning a second-generation Chinese girl born in France presenting with anorexia nervosa. This case leads us to raise the issue of the choice of diagnostic criteria in relation to cultural background. We will also discuss the impact of the family’s migratory history on the construction of identity in adolescence. Theory of mind (ToM) skills form the basis of human cognition and social behavior. The aim of this study is to contribute to SCT literature by examining the relationship between SCT and cognitive and affective ToM in school-age children with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Fifty school-age children with ADHD (43 boys and seven girls) and 40 typically developing children (34 boys and six girls) were assessed using Parent-rated Barkley Child Attention Scale and Child Behavior Checklist\u002F6–18, cognitive (first- and second-order ToM) and affective ToM (Reading Mind in the Eyes Test and Unexpected Outcomes Test (UOT)) tests. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to determine the variables that may predict SCT levels in children with ADHD. Attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder-inattention (Exp(B) = .334, p = .027), internalization (Exp(B) = .305, p = .006), and UOT scores (Exp(B) = .933, p = .015) significantly predicted SCT severity in children with ADHD. SCT severity was significantly associated with impaired cognitive ToM skills as measured by second-order ToM (Exp(B) = 1.933, p = .045). The TFC approach is an extension of the parent-mediated treatments that have previously been shown to be effective in working with children with aggression and antisocial behavior problems. In TFC, community families were recruited and trained to provide placements for study boys. One boy was placed per home. GC boys were placed with 6-15 others with similar delinquency problems. For boys in both conditions, they and their adult caretakers participated in an assessment 3 months after initial placement. The assessment was designed to evaluate key treatment process variables thought to predict later outcomes: the extent to which the boy was well supervised, the level of consistent discipline he received, the extent to which he associated with delinquent peers, and the quality of the boy's relationship with his adult caretaker. Results on these variables are presented, as are results on outcomes: subsequent arrests, program completion rates, rates of running away from placement and number of days incarcerated in follow-up.
