Sự kích hoạt kéo dài của con đường tín hiệu yếu tố nhân κB (NF-κB) đã được quan sát thấy trong bệnh viêm ruột (IBD) ở người. Ophiopogonin D (OP-D) là một hợp chất nhỏ phân tử được phân lập từ Ophiopogon japonicus, một loại thuốc thảo dược được sử dụng rộng rãi. Trong nghiên cứu này, sulfate dextran natri được sử dụng để tạo ra mô hình chuột viêm đại tràng thí nghiệm và xác minh tác dụng của OP-D trên mô hình chuột viêm đại tràng thí nghiệm. Các phương pháp mô phỏng dock protein - phân tử nhỏ cũng được sử dụng để khám phá cơ chế điều tiết viêm đại tràng do OP-D gây ra.
